I have been busy this weekend getting things cleaned and organized. I wanted to show you my pantry shelves.
Our house was not blessed with an actual pantry and I wanted someplace to store all the extras you find on sale.
One day my hubby went to a farm auction and these heavy duty wooden shelves went up for sale and no one else wanted them. They were covered in years of barn dirt. He was the only bidder.
We cleaned them and gave them a coat of white paint and tada! a new pantry. These shelves are really tall, so I keep seldom used things on top.
Since we live in a very rural area and it is about 20 minutes to the grocery store, it is nice to have extras on hand. But, I was wondering, do you believe in keeping lots of extra food? On extreme couponing, the women featured have complete store rooms. I am on the fence about that and can't decide.
These shelves are out in the open in the mudroom, so I try to keep them neat and tidy. Next, I have to tackle the coat closet, but I have to work up my courage. It's a scary place!! Hope you are getting organinzed after the holidays. Happy weekend to you! xoxo Jean
i keep some but not to the extreme that some do. i wonder how they find the deals that they do. i want deals on the items we enjoy. ha. ha!! not on the items that will never get used. seems so silly - those shows that is.
ReplyDeleteyour pantry looks nice. great job. ( :
Love that you tackled your panty and got it all organized. I have to do mine about 3 times a year. Not sure how a pantry can get cluttered but it does somehow. I extreme coupon, but I also feed an average of 8 teenage boys a day and they can eat you out of house and home. I live 30 miles from a store so I can't just pop in and pick something up, so I always have a stockpile on hand. The kids say I have my own grocery store. It is nice to always be able to whip up a meal even for extra people.
ReplyDeleteI love the cow print on the side of the pantry, that was the first thing I noticed and fell in love with it.
your pantry looks great, I have never had a real pantry, I just have shelves, I wish mine were tidy like yours though!
ReplyDeleteAfter raising five children, born within 7 years - it was hard not to stockpile. Finally had to tear out our pantry cupboard to keep from hoarding food that would get outdated! Now with just two of us, I do stock up when things are on sale, but try to control myself LOL!
ReplyDeleteGirl this is fabulous. YOu did a great job and I love the shelves. They look amazing white.. Looks like you have been busy.... Have fun tackling that coat closet. My coat closet we use as a Hurricane Closet. What we grab incase.. We are in a coastal town sooooooo the pictures and those sort of treasures are what we will grab...and it is a wreck >>MADE me want to go and straighten it up .. HUGS From The Rusty Pearl
ReplyDeleteThose look like will be perfect kitchen/food storage shelves! We have a small pantry in the hallway between the kitchen and family room. I do keep baking staples and some canned goods, but I don't go overboard. We live 5 minutes from the grocery store, so it's easy to run over there a couple times a week.
ReplyDeleteI like to keep enough things that I can put together a meal at most any time. It might not be exactly what I'm hankering for at the moment, but that's not important. There's only the two of us and I think it would be foolish to have entire storage rooms. I have a pantry but its not huge. And, it desperately needs to be cleaned out and rearranged. Over time, it has gotten quite jumbled. I do keep home canned goods in a separate closet, but that's just jam and such.
ReplyDeleteI love your pantry. When they're open like that, it keeps you on your toes more.
A sweet pantry!! I am all for storing at least a years worth of food and water. Mostly things that last a few years!! Happy organizing! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteSo wish I had room for a storage of some kind in our mud room. Our mud room isn't that big to start so it gets pretty congested with things that two people are too lazy to put away right away. Me being the worst. There always seems to be a pile in there, ugh. We do have an antique cupboard in mud room but it houses my collectible chotskies and whatever else I can jam in it.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the fence about the couponing ladies myself. Rather than maybe annoy somebody I"ll keep my opinions to myself.
Happy week. I'd love to have the money to be able to buy ahead.
Awesome! My husband is working on getting me a pantry this year, transforming an older area to a new area!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Susie
Fantastic! I wish I knew how to coupon ... to much thinking involved. : ) There is something satisfying about having stocked cabinets.
ReplyDeleteHave a great thursday.
